Black pepper, cayenne and ginger: That heat on your tongue when you eat these spices is evidence of gingerols, capsaicin, and piperine, compounds that boost metabolism. These spices are also said to have an aphrodisiac effect, but avoid consuming these if you’re bothered by hot flashes.
