Cleaning Your Coffee Maker With White Vinegar

Leftover coffee oils and other guck in your coffee maker can affect the taste of your coffee. Here’s one way to clean the junk with the multi-tasking vinegar:

  1. Mix one part white vinegar to two parts water. Mix a full pot of this vinegar and water solution and pour into the resevoir of your coffee maker.
  2. Turn on the coffee maker and let the vinegar-water mixture cycle through. After the solution has completely run through, turn off the coffee maker and allow the pot to cool for about 20 min.
  3. Pour out the solution and rinse the pot.
  4. Cycle two full pots of cold water through the coffee maker. This will rinse the vinegar-water solution out of the coffee maker.

Note: Some people recommend doing this weekly; however, we only do this every few months and our coffee still tastes great.
