As an only child, Mother’s Day has always been a big deal. I pretty much go all out – lei, flowers that I’d personally arrange, brunch, gifts. Yes, I’m a doting daughter. But with very tight finances this year, I have a list of very practical things my mom needs but refuses to buy for herself. Not very cute, but this isn’t really the time to waste money with pretty packaging and fluff. But I’m going to combine the necessities with something sweet like this DIY message box. What I love about this idea is that it takes me back to the kind of gifts I made for my mom as a child. And moms tend to still think of you as a child no matter how old you get so this is sure to warm her heart. And so you don’t have to Google it – Mother’s day is Sunday, May 9th.
